Blackberry Z10

Blackberry Z10
According to Ewan Spence, a contributing write for Forbes, said, ‘For the last two weeks, I’ve been using BlackBerry’s new Z10 smartphone. What I’ve found is a competent modern smartphone that can be trusted to deliver results, but needs more development time for the operating system to mature.’ That seems to sum it up for the Blackberry Z10 debut this month.

PROS for Z10
Most Smartphones have 1GB RAM and 16GM internal storage the Z10 comes equipped with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

PROS for Z10
Supports 2 different 4G standards in the US and Euorpe. Also supports 3G, so roaming will be at a decent speed most everywhere.

CON for Z10
Design was not in the specs when they decided to create a new Blackberry operating system. Blackberry Z10 follows current trends instead of making new paths for others to follow.

PRO for Z10
A rougher back surface helps one hold the device.

SO SO for Z10
A 8 megapixel camera is standard on the Z10. It is capable of recording video in 1080dp HD quality. The camera software is pretty standard also.

NOT SURE for Z10
This is the very first smartphone running the new Blackberry 10 OS. Time will be the judge as to how reliable and stricking it is. Blackberry took a risk in debuting both a new OS and UI at the same time. You will need to take a few days to get used to the new OS because there is a lot ot learn.

PRO for Z10
Blackberry was one of the first true mobile PDA and the Z10 is set to be powerful. The goal is to be the best messaging and business communication smartphone out on the market, and according to reviews it goes a long way to achieving this goal with one consistent interface, making it easy to handle a busy day.

CON for Z10
Icons pop up when your do the upwards swipe and they seem to show up on either side. Not sure where they will appear makes it difficult to adjust to the UI intuitively.

CON for Z10
Twitter needs some work. The Z10 only allows 1 Twitter account to be switched on. Most consumers have multiple Twitter accounts so hopefully this will be in their future upgrades.

CON for Z10
Hidden options when you are reviewing you daily messages. Hold down your finger over the date marker if you want a list of message to appear, but who knew unless you were told! Once you learn the UI it will be intuitive, but getting started it feels difficult.

CON for Z10
Although the UI has good points, overall it needs some work to flow better and more intuitively. Things need to work consistently the same throughout the entire OS. There is no ‘home’ button and this takes some getting used to.

Overall, the Blackberry Z10 is a good first smartphone for their new OS and UI, but because there is nothing outstanding in the smartphone itself it would be hard to recommend getting rid of an Android or iPhone. But those coming from existing Blackberry smartphones, they will be please with this new direction.
